Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest programmes in the Faculty of Engineering, dating back to 1951 when TaTU began as a trade school. The department has evolved from a trade centre to a technical school (1960), then a polytechnic (1992), and now a technical university. The discipline focuses on designing, analysing, and manufacturing mechanical systems to solve real-world challenges across modern industry and transportation.

About the Department

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest in Faculty of Engineering dating back to 1951, when TaTU began as a trade school. The department has gone through series of transformation from the Trade Training Center into a Technical School 1960, then in 1912 to a Polytechnic, Then to its currents state as Technical University. Mechanical Engineering is a discipline that focuses on the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems, using principles of physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve challenges in human life. Its area of actives ranges from small machine components to large industrial systems, applying knowledge of force, energy, and motion to create innovative solutions across nearly every modern industry and transportation.
